Made with avocado, desalted and shredded cod, cassava flour and pepper, avocado “feroce” owes its name to its spicy taste –“feroce” meaning “fierce” in French. Nowadays served as an appetizer, this dish was originally consumed by field workers during breakfast, during avocado season. Today, avocado “feroce” is an alternative to a simple avocado salad. Prepared in 20 minutes, this seasonal dish can be spiced or just slightly spicy.
To prepare an avocado “feroce” you need the following: 1 ripe avocado, 200g of desalted cod, 250g cassava flour, 3 spings of coarsely chopped chives, 1 chili pepper cut into small pieces, 3 crushed garlic cloves, 2 tablespoon of oil and 1 lime.
In a bowl, first crush pieces of avocado mixed with cassava flour. Add the pieces of shredded cod, lime juice, chili pepper, garlic and oil. Stir the mixture with your hands until you get a dough well agglutinated. You can then serve the avocado “feroce” as is (with bread) or as a rolled ball (like a mouthful).
