If you like racing and/or hiking, you have many options in Martinique. The island is indeed perfect for these kinds of activities; hikes are organized throughout the year everywhere on the island and you can even participate in insiders’ races. Last November, for example, there was the International Half-Marathon of Fort-de-France.
And in a few days, the TransMartinique 2016 will begin. This long hike is a race for runners and experienced walkers, although everyone can go at their own speed. The TransMartinique is a 133km race across Martinique, with a height difference of 5250m. The start will take place on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at midnight. And although the arrival of the winner is estimated around 7pm (in Sainte-Anne), the Transmartinique will continue on Sunday 11, December 2016. On Sunday, the awards ceremony is scheduled at 5pm on the podium at Pointe Marin. It will be followed by cocktails at 6pm. Then the race will be officially closed at 9pm.
To register, contact the organizer of the event: Club Manikou, based in Saint-Joseph. You will find more information on the club's official website.
