The Zoo of Martinique

Martinique boasts many attractions which are both interesting and restful, highlights include: Savanna of the Slaves, the Garden of Balata and the Zoo of Martinique, in Carbet city. The latter is recommended for lovers of animals and budding botanists.

The city of Carbet, in the northwest of Martinique, is home to one of the most famous former houses of the island: the Habitation Latouche which dates from the middle of the XVIIth century. At the heart of these ruins, in this historic and charming setting, the Zoo of Martinique was established.

Following a planned walking route (which takes approximately one and a half hour), it is possible to see wild animals such as pumas, monkeys, raccoons, lorikeets, iguanas, and the star of the park: Ulysses the Jaguar. But this is not simply just a zoo; it is also a museum and a botanical garden. The Zoo of Martinique organizes exhibitions all year long, one example being their popular display on Piracy.

The Zoo of Martinique is easily accessible by car and very well signposted. It is open every day from 9am until 6pm (last entrance at 4:30 pm). It will cost you 15,50€ for an adult ticket and 9€ for a child ticket (free for children under 3 years).

A little advice from Jumbo Car Martinique : rent a people-carrier to get to the Zoo of Martinique with all your family.
